Leadership and communication skill development program was held at HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna on the 8th of October 2022, Saturday from 9.00 a.m. to 2.15 p.m. Seventy-five students from Kaddaikadhu, Manatkadhu, Punkudutivu, Mandaitivu, Kayts J/St. Antony’s College, J/St. Charles MV and J/Vaideeswara College Jaffna participated.
Educational Assistance to Economic Crisis & War Affected Poor Children in Northern Province of Sri Lanka 2022/23 is funded by Caritas Korea through the National Centre, Caritas Sri Lanka-SEDEC (CSL)
Three year project was completed successfully from 2019 July to 2022 June. Because of the success of the initial project; a new continuation project has been started in August 2022.
The selection of students was done with the support of Parish Priests and School Principals. 75 Charger Lights were purchased and distributed during the programme to the students to help them to study during power outage period.
Leadership training was given by Mr.S. Joseph Bala Psychosocial Regulator in the first session and Communication Skill Development training was given by Mr. S. Aravinthan, Resource Person of Skill Development, University of Jaffna , Lecturer SLIIT.
Revd. Fr. S. Eugene Francis, Director HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna presided over the programme. Miss Nithila Mariampillai, Programme Manager conducted the programme and the introduction was given by her. Regarding the Bill Settlements and Monthly Educational Assistance was given by Ms. Dorin Kowsalya, Finance Officer.
Monthly educational allowance for each is Rs.4,000/- out of this Rs.3,500.00 is being deposited to the parents’ account; and Rs.500.00 to saving accounts of each student.
Bank Account for 75 students were opened by BoC staff and Mr. Reynold, Manager BoC, Main Street Branch, Jaffna gifted Picture Exercise book to each student. He brought his five staff to HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna to open saving account for these students
