HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna has organised an Exposure visit for the youth on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of February 2020 to Trincomallee under the project ‘Mobilize the youth and strengthen them to promote social cohesion and reconciliation’ funded by AGIAMONDO Germany through the National Centre SEDEC-Caritas Sri Lanka. Fifty two youth (26 Male, 26 Female) and four staff accompanied by Revd. Fr. S. Eugene Francis, Director HUDEC-Caritas Jaffna participated in the exposure visit.
They stayed at Theepam Centre, in Trincomalle and visited various places, such as Kanniya hot water well, Koneswara Kovil, Marble Beach, etc. The youth performed dance, singing and played Volley ball at the beach. They were also enjoyed swimming in the Marble Beach.
In the afternoon the youth went to Peeliyadi Village and participated in the cultural events. 35 people from the Peeliyady village participated in this event. The youth and the villagers performed drama, poem, dance, etc. and entertained all the participants. Youth from the Peeliyady village introduced themselves to the youth went in exposure visit and became friends. One young girl from Peeliyady Village said that she would like to work actively like the youth came on exposure visit and this was the first event that she participated with youth.
Youth from Palay, Navanthurai, Allaipiddy, Ariyalai, Nainathivu and Anjananthalu in the Jaffna district went to the exposure visit. Their conducts were very remarkable. They helped each other and were ready for the programmes on time. They all returned Jaffna on 3rd of February 2020 at around 10.00 a.m.
